| Phenomena | the "thing" being investigated, the "who" or "what" that is central to and foregrounded in the study |
| Confirmability | suggests that the researcher has remained neutral during data analysis and interpretation |
| Transferability | findings may have applications in similar situations elsewhere |
| Positionality | the position or perspective of the researcher shapes everything |
| Participant | specific group of people who will be interviewed or observed |
| Methodological coherence | ensuring congruence between the research question, methods, data, and analytical process |
| Negative Case Analysis | requires searching out data elements that do not support or actually contradict findings emerging during data analysis. |
