| Diagnosis | what the health care professional thinks the patient has |

| Degeneration | to be getting worse |
| Remission | to get better or improve |
| Idiopathic | no known specific cause; it just happens |
| Occult | hidden |
| Lesion | diseased tissue |
| Recurrent | to have again |
| Sequela | a problem resulting from a disease or injury |
| Oriented | Being aware of who he or she is, where he or she is, and the current time |
| Marked | it really stands out |
| Unremarkable | Another way of saying normal |
| Percussion | To hit something and listen to the resulting sound or feel for the resulting vibration. |

| crepitation | A crackling sound |
| costalgia | Rib pain |
| metatarsalgia | Pain in the bones of the foot |
| ostalgia | Bone pain (alternate spelling of this term is ostealgia). |

| Arthroclasia | Therapeutic breaking of a joint to allow for increased mobility |

| Polymyositis | Inflammation of multiple muscles |
| Myofasciitis | Inflammation of muscle and fascia |
| Achondroplasia | A defect in the formation of cartilage |
| Subluxation | Partial dislocation of a joint |
| Arthrosclerosis | Hardening of the joints |
| Arthrocele | Hernia of a joint |
| Carpitis | Wrist inflammation |
| Osteosclerosis | Abnormal hardening of bone |
| Osteosarcoma | Cancerous tumor arising out of bone cells |
