Decomposer An organism that eats dead or decaying matter and changes it into nutrients or minerals
Food Web A useful diagram for displaying the feeding relationship among all the organisms in an ecosystem
Biomass Is the total amount of organisms in a specific area
Fungus A decomposer feeding on organic matter that produces spores
Organic Matter Matter that comes from or is in an organism that contains carbon compounds
Organic Waste Any material that is biodegradable and comes from either a plant or an animal
Uptake To absorb or consume matter into a living organism, tissue, or cell
