| Exponent | The number that indicates how many times the base in a power is multiplied. |
| Exponential Notation | A shorthand way of writing repeated multiplication using a base and an exponent. |
| Index | In the radical, which represents the nth root of x, n is the index. In the radical, the index is understood to be 2. |
| Irrational number | A number that cannot be expressed as a ratio of two integers or as a repeating or terminating decimal. |
| Natural Numbers | The numbers that are used for counting . |
| Squared | A base raised to the power of two. |
| Square Root | The number that produces a given number when multiplied by itself; the inverse of squaring a number. |

| Scientific Notation | A method of writing very large or very small numbers by using powers of 10. |
| Terminating Decimal | Adecimal number that ends or terminates. |
