Mixtures & Solutions

TermDefinition
Matter Anything that takes up space and has mass(weight)
Mass How much matter is in an object
Volume How much space an object takes up
Density How heavy an object is for its size
Mixture 2 or more materials mixed together and can be separated.
Solution Solid dissolves into water or other liquid substance to make a clear liquid
Solute The substance that dissolves into a liquid
Solvent The liquid that a substance dissolved into(water)
Property A characteristic of an object.
Evaporation A liquid changes state into a gas(heat)
Condensation A gas changes state to a liquid ( cool)
Concentration The amount of solute in a certain amount of solvent
Concentrated A solution that contains a lot of solute ( salt, sugar)
Diluted A solution that contains a small amount of solute ( salt, sugar)
Saturated When no more solute can be dissolved in a solvent
