Mixtures & Solutions

Mass Amount of 'stuff' in an object
Volume Amount of space an object takes up
Density How heavy an object is for it's size
Matter Anything that takes up space an has mass
Mixtures Two or more materials mixed together that can be seperated
Solutions A solid that has the ability to dissolve in water
Solute A substance that dissolves in a liquid (salt)
Solvent A liquid that a substance dissolves in water
Evaporation When liquid alters it's state to a gas (heat)
Condensation When gas turns into a liquid (cold)
Property A characteristic of an object that can be observed (texture, size, shape, color)
Concentration The amount of solute in a certain amount of solvent
Concentrated A solution that contains a lot of solute (salt)
Diluted A solution that contains a small amount of solute (salt, sugar)
Saturated When no more solute can be dissolved
