leadership in the senate president of the senate: VP, President pro Tempore: longest serving member, majority leader is the most powerful in the senate.

legislative process law is introducesd in house of senate, refered to the house/senate commitie, senate/house debates and pass, then both reach a compromise/agreement on law, president signs into law
presidental action president has 10 days to sign the law, if not acted on it automicaly becomes a law. vetos can be overwritten by 2/3rd vote of each house
