band to the ready left foot steps out in second position (feet at 90 degrees), chin goes down to chest, shoulders do not move, instruments/hands go to standby position
attention starts in band to the ready, left foot comes into right, instrument comes up to carry/attention position, head comes back up, snappy
horns up/horns down: horns up position make a fist with left hand and put right hand on top with all fingers forming a "C", right fingertips are on left knuckles, right thumb should be on second knuckle of left index finger, place in front of mouth (where mouthpiece should be
horns up/horns down: process upper arms should be parallel to ground when bringing arms up, make sure wrists aren't "broken" (straight line from elbow to first knuckle), go back to general posture for horns down, swift motion
mark time/halt: mark time start in general posture, bt 5 left foot comes into ski line, bt 6 right foot comes to ski line, bt 7 left foot raises to platform so heel is ankle bone height (knee eclipses toe), bt 8 right foot does the same, keep alternating(left is odd right is even)
mark time/halt: halt place close on counts 4 and 1, bt 4 right foot goes back to 90 degrees, bt 1 left foot does the same
general posture: importance foundation for technique, displays strength/confidence, allows us to play and march, should be relaxed and engaged
band to the ready: importance used before march down cadence and before pregame
attention: importance transition from band to the ready back to general posture
horns up/horns down: importance simulated horn is used when learning drill or in visual rehearsal, we do the same simulated horn for uniformity, helps simulate instruments when we don't have horns
mark time/halt: importance representation of internal sense of tempo
teaching structure introduce yourself, explain importance, follow "i do, we do, you do", thank them for their time
i do, we do, you do give example, do the rep together, have group do rep on their own
