Module 3 Rational Numbers

| positive numbers | a number greater than zero |
| negative numbers | a number less than zero |
| integers | a number that can be represented as a whole number or as the opposite of a whole number |
| opposite | numbers that are the same distance from zero on the number line but on different sides of zero |
| rational numbers | a number that can be represented as a fraction or as the opposite of a fraction |
| absolute value | the distance between the number and zero on a number line |
| quadrant | one of the four regions in the coordinate plane formed by the intersection of the x and y axes. |
| inequality | comparing two numbers or expressions that are not equal |
| ordered pair | a set of two numbers written in a specific order like (x,y) |
| interval | the space or distance between two things |
| origin | the starting point used on graphs and number lines |
| scale | the unit or interval between points or values |
| point | an exact position or location in a space |
| area | the total space taken up by a flat 2-D surface and the number of unit squares that the cover the surface. |
| perimeter | the measurement that defines the distance around a two-dimensional figure |
