short bones: -cube like -similar width x height x length -wrist, ankle
irregular bones: -weird -strange -unusual -pelvis, ribs, scapula, etc
lacunae: -cave -contains osteoycytes (living)
lamellae: -rings
haversian canal: -transport -in the center of the bone (like a vertical path where the blood is)
canaliculi: -cracks -bone cells to blood cells for healing
volkmann's canal: -horizontal path -connects 1 osteon to another
diaphysis: middle
proximal epihysis: top (where epiphyseal line is)
distal epiphysis: bottom (where the epiphyseal line is NOT)
articular cartilage: lining of the outside of the bone to decrease fiction at joints
epiphyseal line: -line duh -marks end of bone growth
periosteum: -outside of the bone
endosteum: -inside of the bone -covers medullary cavity (right next to it) -active during bone growth/repair
medullary cavity: -middle area -bone marrow: red: blood cells yellow: lipids
spongy bone: what looks like sponge duh
