| Precipitate | the insoluble ionic compound that is formed |
| Acid base neutralization reaction | an acid reacts with a base to produce a water and a salt (soluble ionic compound) |
| Acid | when placed in water, dissociates into H+ and an ion |
| Strong acids | HCl, HBr, HI, HNO3, HClO4, H2SO4 |
| Bases | when placed in water, dissociates into OH- and a cation |
| Oxidation reduction reaction | involves the transfer of electrons |
| Oxidation | the addition of oxygen, loss of electrons |
| Reduction | the removal of oxygen, gain of electrons |

| Concentration | the amount of solute in a solution, expressed with Molarity (M) |
| Molarity | moles of solute / liters of solution |
| Moles of solute | M x liters of solution |
| Liters of solution | moles of solute / molarity |
