Year 7 Drama

Terms needed in your written reflection for Drama

TermDefinition
Tableaux A freeze frame held for 1 to 2 seconds using a group of performers.
Offer To actively suggest an idea or prompt in a performance or during rehearsal.
Accept To enthusiastically respond and act on peoples suggestions.
Extend To add to an idea that is offered in rehearsal or performance.
Improvisation To make up a performance on the spot.
Role Verbs and Adjectives meaning the actions and characteristics you will be presenting on stage - e.g. Aggressively.
Character The noun/s that identifies the person you're depicting on stage. e.g. Old Lady. Captain of the Team.
Tension The feeling of unease or discomfort that can be created through a complication or problem in a performance.
Blocking The act of organising the placement and movement of performers on the stage.
Stage Directions Centre, Up, Down, Right, Left positions.
Mime To act out full scenes without sound or props. Big movements.
Gesture Physical movements to used to give directions or communicate without sounds. More subtle movements.
Block To ignore an offer/ reject an offer.
