Body Systems

QuestionAnswer
Circulatory System The function is to carry molecules to cells through the bloodstream. A special protein called hemoglobin gives red blood cells their ability to pick up oxygen. Hemoglobin also gives red blood cells its color.
Respiratory System The function is to bring oxygen into our body. The oxygen molecules go through the alveoli walls into the blood vessels.
Digestive System The function is to break down food into smaller pieces for easier digestion. A main part is the villi and the nutrients go through the villi into the blood stream.
Nervous System The function is to carry electrical impulses across the nerves.
Excretory System The function is to break down waste and move it out of your body.
Musculoskeletal System The function supports the body and allows it to move.
Reproductive System The function is the combination of two cells called gametes (sex cells) to form a full set of DNA.
Metabolism The chemical processes that occur within a living organism in order to maintain life.
Glucose Starch breaks down and turns into _______________.
Oxygen You breathe in ________________________ from the air.
Amino acids Protein breaks down into ______________________. They are used for growth and repair.
Cellular respiration __________________________ happens in the mitochondria when oxygen and glucose have a chemical reaction.
