Ecology the study of how organisms react with eachopther and the environment

Community All of the population in a particular area
ecosystem includes all of the living things and their physical environments within a particular area
biosphere includes all parts of earth that hosts life
biotic factors parts of an ecosystem that are living or used to be living
abiotic facotrs parts of an ecosystem that are non living
habitat the specific environment in which and organism lives in
resources anything an organism needs including shelter, mates, food, water
Population size describes the number of individual organisms present in a given environment in a specific time
Population density describes the number of individuals within a popular per unit area
Population distributing described how organisms are arranged in that area
Age structure describes the relative number of and organism of each age within the population
age structure diagram visual tools scientist use to show the age structures of population
sex ratio proportion of males to females
survivor ship curves age differences
Immigration the arrival of individuals from outside a given area
Emigration the departure of individuals from a given area
Migration seasonal movement into and out of every area
expotential growth population increases by a fixed percentage each year
limiting factors characteristics of the environment that limits population growth
Carrying capacity the largest population size a given enviromental can sustaably support
Logistic growth describes how a populations initial exponential increase is slowed and finally topped by limiting factors
density dependent factor limiting factors who infuential is not affected by population density
biotic potential maximiom ability to produce offspring in ideal condition
