Pure Substance matter with a composition that is always the same
Element a substance that consists of only one type of atom
Molecule two or more atoms that are held together by covalent bonds and act as a unit
Compound a substance containing atoms of two or more different elements chemically bonded together
Mixture a physical combination of matter that can vary in composition
Heterogeneous Mixture a mixture in which substances are not evenly mixed
Homogeneous Mixture a mixture in which substances are evenly mixed
Solution a homogeneous mixture where one substance is dissolved in another
Solute any substance in a solution that is dissolved and found in smaller quantities
Solvent the substances that exists in the greatest quantity in a solution and dissolves another substance
Solubillity the maximum amount of solute that can dissolve in a given amount of solvent at a certain temperature and pressure
