WAVES

QuestionAnswer
What is the movement or transfer of energy through a medium (like air, water, or solids) Waves
What is the ability to change or move an object through force energy
What is the height or size of a wave, and represents how strong the wave is amplitude
What is the distance between two consecutive points on a wave, often measured from one peak to the next wavelength
something that happens in a regular and predictable way pattern
the highest point of a wave crest
the number of waves that pass in a certain amount of time frequency
the motion of the object be affected if the waves had large amplitudes? the object would move a greater distance up and down.
the motion of the object be affected if the waves had a large wavelength? the object would move up and down more slowly.
How are sound waves similar to ocean waves? mechanical types of waves. move energy from one place to another can be described by their properties (amplitude, wavelength, and frequency).
How are sound waves different from ocean waves? through different mediums. Sound waves move through the air and ocean waves move through the water. So, while we can’t usually see sound waves, we can see ocean waves.
determine the amount of energy a wave by studying the wave’s properties
describe the relationship between a wavelength and a frequency? The shorter the wavelength, the higher the frequency.
What does disturb mean when referring to waves to move
HOw do waves move up and down
What decreases when the wave moves closer to the short? amplitude

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
