what is a sex linked gene? a gene located on either sex chromosome
what are x linked genes? a gene located on the x chromosome, these genes show a distinct pattern of inheritance
what is the x chromosome number? about 900-1,400
what is the y chromosome number? about 45-140
what is a barr body? a dense object lying along the inside of the nuclear envelope in cells of female mammals
what is x inactivation? process where one of the two x chromosomes is randomly shut off in each cell during embryotic development to equalize gene dosage with males
