| Tendon | - Connects muscle to bone. |
| Skeletal Muscle | - Voluntary muscle that moves bones. |
| Cardiac Muscle | - Heart muscle; involuntary and striated. |
| Smooth Muscle | - Involuntary muscle in organs. |
| Sarcomere | - Unit of muscle contraction. |
| Sarcoplasmic Reticulum | - Stores and releases calcium in muscle cells. |
| Calcium Ions (Ca+2) | - Trigger muscle contraction. |
| Actin filaments | - Thin protein filaments in muscle fibers. |
| Myosin filaments | - Thick protein filaments that pull on actin. |
| Troponin | - Protein that binds calcium to start contraction. |
| Tropomyosin | - Protein that blocks actin binding sites until calcium binds. |
| Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) | - Energy source for muscle contraction. |
| Endomysium | - Wraps each individual muscle fiber. |
| Perimysium | - Wraps groups of fibers into bundles (fascicles). |
| Myofibril | - Long strands inside muscle fibers that contain sarcomeres. |
| Fascicle | - Bundle of muscle fibers. |
| Epimysium | - Outer covering of the whole muscle. |
| Muscle Fiber / Cell | - Single muscle cell that contracts. |
| Electromyogram (EMG) | - Test that records electrical activity of muscles. |
| Tetany | - Continuous muscle contraction without relaxation. |
