TermDefinition
Minor Party political party that does not have wide voter support in this country (third Party)
Consensus A general agreement among various groups
Two-Party System Republicans and Democrats make up this system
Bipartisan two or more parties find common ground and work together
Multiparty a system in which several groups compete in the government
Single-Member Districts contest in which only one candidate is elected to each office on the ballot
Plurality largest number of votes cast for the office
Coalition is a temporary alliance of several groups who come together to form a working majority (try to control the government)
One-Party System "no party system"
Communism a theory advocating elimination of private property/a system in which goods are owned in common
Radical favoring extreme changes in existing views
Liberal a political orientation that favors social progress by reform
Moderate avoiding extremes of behavior or expression; middle of the road
Conservative usually stays with the traditional views and values; tending to oppose major change
Reactionary especially opposed to change or liberalism; extreme conservative
Fascism a political philosophy, movement, or regime that holds nation or often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government
