| Epitaph | a brief statement written on a tomb or gravestone |
| Farce | a comedy that contains an extravagant disregard of seriousness |
| Gothic Novel | a novel where supernatural horrors and unknown terrors pervades the action |
| Hyperbole | a figure of speech that uses exaggeration to express strong emotion |
| Interior Monologue | a narrative technique recording a character's internal flow of thoughts |

| Metaphor | a figure of speech comparing two unlike things without like or as |
