| What is intensive farming | A large amount of product produced per hectare |
| What is extensive farming | A smaller amount of product produced per hectare |
| How does farming change vegetation | Plants from an area are removed and replaced in the process of farming. 5 million hectares of forest converted every year. Most takes place in South America and Africa. 50 million hectares have been cleared in Australia since English colonization. |
| How does farming change water | 70% of water supply used for agriculture. Farming process can change the quality of the water significantly. Fertilizers can end up in lakes and rivers, leaving algae out of control. Dams lower the volume of water in rivers and lakes. |
| How does farming change soil | Soils are being degraded and the amount of food that can be grown is on a decline. Estimated 2 billion hectares effected. Caused by, Clearing forests, Density of farm animals, Over farming. Increased salinity content in soil can cause it to be unusable. |
| Give an example of intensive farming | Poultry Farm, Greenhouse |
| Give an example of extensive farming | Pasture for livestock suck as sheep and cattle |
