QuestionAnswer
Homeostasis/dynamic equilibrium A process by which organisms maintain a relatively stable environment
Organic Contain both carbon and hydrogen atoms (C and H)
Inorganic Does not contain both hydrogen and carbon atoms
Glucose The high energy sugar that is made through the process of photosynthesis
Cellular respiration The process that releases ATP by breaking down glucose
Aerobic Type of respiration where oxygen is required, and it occurs in the mitochondria
Anaerobic Type of respiration were no oxygen is required and occurs in the cytoplasm
Lactic acid fermentation Used by bacteria in human muscle cells. Produces lactic acid from three carbon pyrovic acid
Alcoholic fermentation Use by yeast and a few other microorganisms. Produces alcohol and carbon dioxide from three carbon pyrovic acid
Mitochondria Organelle where cellular respiration occurs
Photosynthesis The process by which green plants and some other organisms, use sunlight to synthesize glucose from carbon dioxide and water
Chloroplast The organelle were photosynthesis occurs
Reactants On the left of the arrow. They go into the equation.
Products What is produced by the chemical equation. They are on the right of the arrow.
Stomata Small opening or space on the underside of leaves where water vapor oxygen leaves the plant and carbon dioxide enters the plant
Guard cells The cells that surround the stomata and control if the stomata are open or closed
