Stem

TermDefinition
Power battery A device consisting of one or more electrochemical cells that convert stored chemical energy into electrical energy.
Pneumatics Relating to air or other gases, using compressed gasses to drive mechanical motion.
Regulator A valve that automatically cuts off the flow of a liquid or gas at a certain pressure. Maintains a set pressure in the circuit.
Actuator Converts the pressurized gas into motion.
Reservoir Tank Stores potential energy in the form of compressed air.
*Shut off valve Opens or closes to allow air.
Speed Valve Controls the flow rate
Pressure Force per area, typically has units of PSI or pounds per square inch. The air tank exerts a force on the shell of the tank.
Solenoid Valve An electrical signal that activates a magnet which moves a piston up or down to control the airflow.
Flow rate Flow rate is the mass of a substance which passes per unit of time.
Cradle/ End effector Is a device or tool connected to the end of a robot arm.
Force/ Velocity Any interaction which tends to change the motion of an object. In other words, a force can cause an object with mass to change its velocity.
Procedures An established way of doing something.
Variability How spread out a set of data is.
odds of winning / probability The relative possibility that an event will occur, as expressed by the ratio of the number of actual occurrences to the total number of possible occurrences.
