QuestionAnswer
Assessment A way to check how much students have learned.
Accountability The responsibility of teachers to show that students are learning.
Documentation Writing down or recording students' progress and achievements.
Diagnostic Assessment A tool used to find out what students know before teaching them.
Formative Assessment Ongoing checks during learning to help students improve.
Summative Assessment Tests given at the end of a lesson to see what students have learned.
Authentic Assessment Real-life tasks that show how well students can use what they've learned.
Rubric A guide with clear criteria to score student work.
Checklist A list of tasks or items that students need to complete.
Portfolio A collection of student work showing what they can do and how they have improved.
Artifact Any piece of work created by a student to show their learning.
Anecdotal Noted Short notes written by teachers about a student's behavior or progress.
Observation Watching students in class to understand their learning and behavior.
Perception How someone thinks or feels about something based on their experiences.
Developmentally Appropriate Practice Teaching methods that fit the age and learning level of the students.
Planning Preparing lessons and activities for students to guide their learning.
Standards Goals that tell what students should learn at different grades.
Objectives (Student Learning Outcomes) Clear statements about what students will learn from a lesson.
Standardized Test A test that is given the same way to all students to compare results.
High-Stakes Testing Important tests that impact students' grades or whether they pass or fail.
