Judicial branch federal level (US Supreme Court, US Court of Appeals, US District Courts), state level (State Supreme Court, State Court of Appeals), local level (Municipal courts)
Federalism refers to a type of government where powers are divided between the federal govt and the state govt.
state's rights political powers held for state govt rather than the federal govt; examples of state's rights - issue licenses (marriage, driver's, business), create local govt, regulate industry, ratify amendments to the state constitution
state government is modeled after the federal govt; each state has its own constitution
local government the public administration of towns, cities, counties, and districts; citizens have alot of contact with the local govt
rights of a citizen freedom to express yourself, freedom to worship as you wish, right to vote, right to run for an office
responsibilities of a citizen support and defend the Constitution, stay informed of issues, respect and obey laws
how an early childhood SS teacher can help students understand govt.... voting on activities, engaging in debates, working in collaborative groups to solve problems
