jack 1st period notecards
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Chlorophyll | A green photosynthetic pigment found in the chloroplast of plants |
| photosynthesis | the process of witch a plant captures light and the sunlights energy |
| tissue | group of similar cells that preform specific function |
| chloroplast | organelle in cells that captures the energy in sunlight |
| vacuole | Sac-like organelle stores water and food |
| cuticle | waxy waterproof layer that covers leaves and stems of most plants |
| vascular tissue | Internal transporting tissue in some plants made up of tubelike structure that carry water and food |
| organelle | any of a number of organized or specialized structures within a living cell |
| chromatin | complex of DNA and proteins that makes up the chromosomes in eukaryotic cells |
| mitochondrion | a cell organelle responsible for producing most of the cell's energy in the form of adenosine triphosphate through processes like the citric acid cycle and oxidative phosphorylation |
| endospore reticulum | Durable structure created by some bacteria |
| lysosomes | an organelle in the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells containing degradative enzymes enclosed in a membrane |
| golgi body | complex of vesicles and folded membranes within the cytoplasm of most eukaryotic cells, involved in secretion and intracellular transport |
| 3 characteristics | autotrophic, chlorophyll and chloroplast, and cytoplasm |
| 2 things plant need and 2 things it makes during photosynthesis | Light energy, water and they make food from water and carbon dioxide |
| 2 reason cell wall important | help keep it sturdy and strong |
| 5 things plant need to survive | water food light chloroplast chlorophyll |
| label a plant cell diagram and why it is different from an animal cell | plant cell have cell walls while animal cells do not |
