| Abraham | Founding patriarch and father of the Jewish people. Established connection with God as founding Jew being promised land, fortune, etc. |
| Mt. Sinai | Prominent site for Jews, Christians, and Muslims as it is said that Moses received the 10 commandments. |
| TaNaKh | The Hebrew bible which consists of the Torah which Moses wrote. Very similar to the old testament of the Christian bible. |
| Mishna | First written collection of Jewish oral traditions - known as the oral Torah. |
| Written Torah | First of the five books of the Tanakh/Hebrew Bible. Compiled from different writers and has same things as the Christian BIble such as Genesis. |
| Oral Torah | Orally transmitted Jewish teachings down through generations before it was translated onto paper and writing. Orally passed down from Moses. |
| Talmud | Collection of oral Jewish law like the Mishnah and is second in authority to the Jewish bible. |
| 70 ce | Siege of Jerusalem where Roman forces ended Jewish insurgency and rebellion killing a lot of Jewish people. |
| Halakhah | Collection of Jewish and Rabbinic law guiding Jewish people on how to live a Jewish life for example eating only Kosher meals. |
| Sacrements | Christian rites like Baptism or Communion. 7 sacrements that touch on different aspects of a Christian's life. |
| Pope/patriarchs | Popes are heads of the Catholic Roman Church and Patriarchs are heads of Eastern Orthodox churches. |
| The Word | Jesus Christ or the word of God. Communication from God. |
| Sola scripture | Protestant doctrine claiming that the Bible is the sole and supreme source of authority for faith. |
| Martin Luther | Martin Luther strayed away from the Roman Catholic church highlighting what was wrong with it. Started his own denomination Lutheranism |
| Printing press | The printing press allowed for mass production of the Bible allowing masses to read scripture in addition to other texts at the time making others critical of the Church. |
| Mecca | Mecca is Islam's holiest city and where prophet Muhammad was born. Has the Kaaba which people make pilgrimage to in their Hajj. |
| Medina | Second most holy city in Islam and where prophet Muhammad came to to escape persecution. First Islamic state previously known as Yathrib. |
| Hijira | The migration of prophet Muhammad and his followers from Mecca where they faced persecution to Yathrib/Medina. |
| Umma | All those of Muslim faith. Originally included non-muslims and jews that lived in Medina and payed tax. |
| Caliph | Successor of Muhammad - similar to a Pope. Spiritual leader of Muslims. |
| Mosque | Muslim place of worship for prayer and gathering. |
| Kaaba | Most important mosque and holiest site for Muslims located in Medina. Muslims try and pray facing to the Kaaba. |
| Quran | Muslims believe the Quran is God's word similar to the Bible or Torah and it provides code of conduct and how to act. |
