| Autosomes | A picture of a person chromosomes |
| Meiosis reduction division | Cell division that halves the amount of chromosomes |
| Cytokinesis | Division of the cytoplasm |
| Karyotype | Body chromosomes 1-22 pairs |
| Nondisjunction | The process of receiving too many or too few chromosomes |
| Independent assortment | The process by which homologous chromosomes randomly align themselves at the Metaphase plate which creates genetic diversity |
| Mitosis | Cell division that produces two genetically identical daughter cells |
| Zygote | Fertilized cell (sperm + egg) |
| Gene expression | The turning on or off genes |
| Differentiation | The process of becoming specialized (like a stem cell turning into a skin cell) |
