| Term | Definition |

| Analyzing | to break something into parts and examine or study those parts. |
| Interpreting | paying close attention to detail in a passage. |
| Point of view | The perspective from which a story is told. |
| First person | The narrator tells the story from the I point of view. |
| Second person | The speaker is talking to you and uses the pronoun you. |
| Third person | An outside observer tells a story describing characters as “he,” “she,” or “they,” as in Mildred D. |
| 3rd omniscient | The narrator is capable of knowing, telling, and seeing all that happens to the main characters. |
| 3rd limited | The speaker tells the story knowing only what is seen, heard, and felt by the thoughts and viewpoint of one character, usually the main character, but sometimes an outsider. |
| Artistic medium | Any material used in are projects like music, sculpting, painting, and sketching. |
