TermDefinition
Symbiosis A close long-term relationship between two species that usually involves an exchange of food or energy
Commensalism A symbiotic relationship that benefits one species but does not harm or benefit the other
Parasitism A symbiotic relationship that benefits ones species and harms the other
Mutualism A symbiotic relationship in which both partners benefit
Cooperative relationships A cooperative relationship in an ecosystem is when different living things, sometimes of different species, work together to help each other survive and thrive
Predator-prey relationship When one animal, the predator, hunts and eats another animal, the prey, for food
Competitive relationship When living things, such as animals or plants, struggle against each other for the same limited resources like food, water, and space
