Drug information references

TermDefinition
Brand Name Trademark of a drug or device held by the originating manufacturing company
Chemical Structure The makeup of a chemical; elements, shape, bonding types molecular configuration
Drug Classification Categorified based on various characteristics including chemical structure, action and therapeutic use of a drug
Drug Facts and Comparisons Reference book found in pharmacies that contains detailed information on Legend drugs and over the counter medication
Formulary A list of approved drugs to be stocked by the pharmacy
Monograph Comprehensive information on medication actions within that class of drugs
Nonformulary A list of drugs that are not included in the list of preferred medications that a committee of pharmacists deems to be the safest
Package Insert The official prescribing information for a prescription drug
Trade Name The proprietary or brand name given to a drug by the company that developed it
