| Republic | A state with supreme power that was elected by the people. |
| Ordinance | Part of legislation enacted by multiple people of authority. |
| Depreciate | Go down in value over time. |
| Manumission | To free from slavery. |
| Proportional | The size or amount of something. |
| Compromise | To agree on something from both sides. |
| Federalism | A government where several states form a unity but are still independent from each other. |
| Legislative Branch | The branch in charge of making laws. |
| Executive Branch | The branch in charge of enforcing the laws that are made by the Legislative branch. |
| Electoral College | The representatives from each state in the US that vote for the president and vice president. |
| Judicial Branch | The branch in charge of applying laws to certain classes. |
| Checks And Balances | Where each branch can limit the power of all the other branches to make sure that none have more power than the other. |
| Amendment | A change to the constitution or a law. |
