variations of mania can lead to 1 of four bipolar disorders
criteria for a manic episode inflated self esteem, decreased need for sleep,more talkative, lots of ideas, distracted, increased goal activity, excessive involement of activities . (needs three of these) you need at least one episode of mania to have a diagnoses of bipolr disorder
as symptoms of mania increase, individuals are more likley to have impulsive behaviors, rapid talking and rapid thoughts
mania is a core criteria for depression disorders
people who expereince full manic episodes and alternatie with depressive episodes have bipolar 1 disorder

delusional disorder persitant beilifes that are contrary to realitiy, but lack other symptoms of schio and are not impared to functing
schizoaffective disorder is a mix of schizo and major depression or mania
delusions are strong, contrary belifes that are held with strong conviction despite evidence
the most common type of delusion with people with schizo is persecutory deultions, where they belive someone is plotting against them
restricted effect is a sever reduction in or absense of emotional expressin in people with schixophrenia
catatonia is a disorganized behavior that reflects noticalble pyschmotor dysfunction that may involved decreased or excessive motor activity
DSM five critera for schizo two or more of the following, during a 1 month period, delsuons, hallucinations, disorganixed speeech, disorganixed or catonic behavior, negative symptoms. the continutous symtoms must be happening for at least 6 months with 1 month of symptoms
DSM five critera for schioaffective dissorder delsions or hallucinations for at least 2 weeks,sympts that meet critera for a mood disorder, major mood episdoes, and cannot contribute to substance abuse
DSM five critera for breif psycotic disorder one or more of the following, delsuions, halluconations, disorganixed speech, grossly disorganixed or catonic behavior. duration of an episode can be from 1 day but less than one month
DSM criter for schixophreniform disorder criteria of regular schizo, last at least one month but less then 6 months
DSM criteria for delusional disorder one or more of the following with a duration of 1 month or longer : no hallucinations, behavior is not bizzare or odd, breif mania
DSM criteria for substance absuse disorder impared control, social impariment, risky use, and pharmalogical tolerance and withdraw
