QuestionAnswer
what are genes? coded information in the form of hereditary units
what is DNA? polymers of 4 different nucleotides (adenine, thymine, cytosine, guanine)
what are gametes? a haploid reproductive cells (sperm/egg) formed by meiosis
what are somatic cells? all cells in the body except for gametes
what is a locus? a specific plae on the length of a chromosome where a gene is located
what is a genome? an organism's ensemble of genes
what is asexual reproduction? offspring coming from a single parent that happens without the fusion of gametes
what is a clone? the product of asexual reproduction, genetically identical to parent/parent cell
what is sexual reproduction? offspring coming from two parents that happens with the fusion of 2 gametes
