Resolution Formal statement of opinion or policy
Preamable Introduction to a declaration, constitution or other official document. An introductory statement.
Grievance A wrong or hardship that one suffered.
Continental Form of paper money printed during the American revolution. Paper money congress pay the US troops.
Traitor Person who betrays his or her country(Benedict Arnold).
Privateer Armed civilian ship that had the governmental permission to attack enemy ships and keep goods seized.
George Washington A Virgin militia leader that grew up to be the general of the American army. Survived winter at valley forge, forced British to surrender Yorktown.
John Paul Jones American ship captain famous for defeating Serapis “I have not yet begun to fight.”
Francis Marion Commander of the continental army in the south.
Benedict Arnold Traitor to the American army who helped the British. Wanted to turn West Point to British.
Nathan hale Connecticut officer who volunteered for a dangerous spy job. Executed for spying on British. “I only regret that I have but one life to loose for my country.”
Richard Henry Lee Proposed a Virginian resolution “these united colonies are and of right ought to be, free and independent states.”
Marquis de Lafayette French noble who became a high ranking officer in Washington’s army.
George Rogers Clark He led a militia to capture two forts. From Virginia. Strengthen Americas claim of Ohio river valley.
Friedrich Von Steuben German baron who trained a continental army also served in Prussian army.
