What are the four main tissue types? Epithelial, connective, muscle, and nervous tissue
What are the bone cells and their functions? Osteoblasts (build), osteocytes (maintain), osteoclasts (resorb)
What are the two main layers of the skin? Epidermis and dermis
What are the primary functions of the integumentary system? Protection, temperature regulation, sensation, excretion, vitamin D synthesis
What are the layers (strata) of the epidermis? Stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, stratum lucidum, stratum corneum.
What immune cells are found in the epidermis? Langerhans cells
What is the function of the plasma membrane? Controls movement of substances in and out of the cell; maintains homeostasis
What is the function of ribosomes? Synthesize proteins from mRNA
What is the function of lysosomes? Contain digestive enzymes to break down waste and damaged organelles
