| ankylosis | a stiff joint caused by adhesion/abnormal fusion of bone |
| osteoarthritis | cartilage degenerates from inflamed synovial fluid (angry cells) resulting in an injury in joint, made worse by increased forces/weight, end - joint replacement, (also called OA) |
| rheumatoid arthritis | patients immune system is causing inflammation in joint, treatment - autoimmune, (hands,wrists) |
| gout | another autoimmune arthritis in uric acid crystals are deposited in the joint (elbows/toe) |
| kyphosis | accentuated curve - caused by osteoarthritis (chronic loss of bone density) older patients only, treatment - exercise, diet, meds |
| lordosis | exaggerated lumbar curve (sway back) |
| myeloma | malignant tumor of the bone marrow (can metastasize) |
| ostealgia | bone pain |
| osteomyelitis | infection of bone & bone marrow |
| osteosarcoma | malignant tumor of the bone |
| scoliosis | exaggerated or any lateral curve of T & L spine, treatment - Harrington rod surgery or nada |
| subluxation | realignment of a joint (what chiropractors adjust) |
