clauses

QuestionAnswer
independent clauses a group of words that contains a subject and verb and expresses a complete thought
dependent clauses a group of words that contains a subject and a verb—that cannot stand on its own as a sentence.
Simple Sentence a group of words that contains at least one subject and at least one verb
Compound Sentence generally joins two simple sentences together with a coordinate conjunction
Complex Sentence a sentence with tow or more subjects and a verb followed by a sodortating conjunction
Compound-Complex Sentence a type of sentence that combines elements from both complex and compound sentences
