QuestionAnswer
Independent clause Can stand by itself or with a dependent.Expresses a complete thought,subject,and predicate.No conjuction
Dependent clause Cannot stand by themselves.Do not express a complete thought.conjuction+ subject+ predicate.
Simple sentence consists of a single independent clause that includes a subject and verb(predicate).I went to town.David likes the movie Hocus pocus.
Compound sentence Joins two independent clauses with the help of a comma and a coordinating conjunction or just a semicolon.
