Independent Clause Can stand by itself or with a dependent.
2. Dependent Clause Cannot stand by themselves. Do not express a complete thought.
3. Simple Sentence consists of a single, independent clause that includes a subject and a verb
4. Compound Sentence joins two independent clauses with the help of a comma and a coordinating conjunction or just a semicolon
5. Complex Sentence a single independent clause and a dependent clause
6. Compound-Complex Sentence combines two or more independent clauses with at least one dependent clause
