| Demographics | statistical data relating to the population and particular groups within it |
| Euro | the currency used by the people in the European Union |
| Feudal system | a social structure during the Middle Ages consisting of a king, lords, vassals and serfs |
| Imperialism | the policy of extending the rule or authority of a nation or empire over foreign countries |
| Parliament | a legislative body in various countries, similar to our Congress. |
| prime minister | the elected head of government, similar to our president |
| Colonialism | Practice of taking over full or parts of another country, occupying it with settlers, and exploiting it |
| Nationalism | identifies with one's own nation and support for its interests |
| Alliance | an agreement to maintain a friendship. |
| Genocide | refers to the deliberate killing of a large group of people, especially those of a certain ethnic group. |
| Interdependence | the dependence of two or more people or things on each other |
| Push-Pull Factors | factors “push” people away from their home and include things like war. factors “pull” people to a new home and include things like better opportunities |
