Independent Sentence Independent clauses can stand by itself or with a dependent. Express a complete thought. SBJ + Predicate (NO conjunction)
Dependent Sentence Dependent clauses cannot stand by itself they do not express or complete thought. Conjunction + Subject + Predicate
Simple Sentence Simple sentence consists of a single, independent Clause that includes a subject and a verb (predicate)
Compound Sentence Compound sentence joins two independents clauses with the help of a comma and a coordinating conjunction.
Complex Sentence Complex sentence a single independent Clause and a dependent clause.
Compound-Complex Sentence Combines two or more independent clauses with at least one dependent clause.
