Sentence Types

Practicing your sentences

QuestionAnswer
Compound Sentence Joins two independent clauses with the help of a comma and a coordinating conjunction or just a semicolon.
Complex Sentence A single independent clause and a dependent clause. has to contain A subordinating conjunction.
Simple Sentence Consists of a single independent clause that includes a subject and a verb/predicate.
Compound-Complex Sentence Combines two or more independent clauses with at least one dependent clause.
Independent Clause Can stand alone by itself. Expresses a complete thought. Subject and verb/predicate.
Dependent Clause Cannot stand by themselves. Do not expresses complete thought. Conjunction subject and predicate
