| Question | Answer |

| Independent clause | Can stand alone by itself, Expresses a complete thought, Subject and predict. |
| Dependent clause | Can't stand alone by itself, doesn't express a complete thought, Subordinting conjuction and subject and predict |
| Simple sentence | consists of a single, independent clause that includes a subject and a verb. |
| Compound sentence | Joins two independent clauses with just the help of a comma and coordinating conjuction or just a semicolon. |
| Complex sentence | A single independent clause and a dependent clause, will always include a subordinating conjunctions. |
| compound-complex | combines two or more independent clause with at least one dependent clause. |
