Independent clause Can stand by it's self or with dependent. expresses a complete thought. subject predicate (no conjunction)
Dependent clause Cannot stand by themselves does not express a complete thought
simple sentence consists a single independent clause that includes a subject and a verb(predicate)
compound sentence Joins two independent clauses with the help of a comma and a coordinating conjunction
complex sentence a single independent clause and a independent clause with a coordinating conjunction
compound complex sentence Combines two or more independent clause and a dependent clause.
