| Dependent Clause | Cannot stand along by themselves. Does not express a complete thought. |
| Simple Sentence | Consists of a single. independent Clause that includes a subject and a verb (predicate) |
| Compound sentence | Joints two independent clauses with the help of a comma and a coordinating conjunction on or just a semicolon. |
| Complex Sentence | A single independent clause and a dependent Clause. *Will always contain a subordinate conjunction (because, after, since, etc.) |
| Compound-Complex Sentence | Combines two or more independent clauses with at least on e dependent clause. |
