sentence types

simple sentence consist of a single independent clause that includes a a subject and predicate
compound sentence joins two independent clauses with the help of a comma and a coordinating conjunction or just a semicolon
complex sentence a single independent clause and dependent clause { subordinate conjunction }
compound complex sentence combines two or more independent clause with at least one dependent
independent clause can stand by itself or with a dependent
dependent clause cannot stand by themselves
