Sentence Types And Clauses

QuestionAnswer
Independent Clause a clause that expresses a complete thought and can stand alone
Dependent Clause a clause that does not express a complete thought and cannot stand alone
Simple Sentence consists of a single , independent clause that includes a subject and a verb (predicate)
Compound Sentence joins two independent clauses with the help of a comma and a coordinating conjunction or just a semicolon
Complex Sentence a single independent clause and a dependent clause
Compound-Complex Sentence combines two or more independent clauses with at least one dependent clause
