TermDefinition
Independent clause Can stand alone by itself, it also expresses a complete thought and is made up of a subject and predicate.
Dependent clause Can't stand alone by itself and doesn't express a complete thought
simple sentence Consist of a single independent clause that includes a subject a verb (Predicate)
compound sentence Joins two independent clauses with the help of a comma and a corridinatiog conjunction or just a semi-colon
Complex sentence A single independent clause and dependent clause that will always contain a subordinate conjunction.
Compound complex sentence Combines two or more independent clauses with at least one dependent clause.
