Sentence types

Independent clause Can stand by itself or with a dependent. Express a complete thought, subject predicate (no cunjuntion)
Dependent clause Cannot stand by themselves. Do not express a complete thought. conjunction + subject +predicate
Simple sentence Consists of a single independent clause that includes a subject and a verb.
Compound sentence Joins two independent clauses with the help of a comma and a coordinating conjunction.
Complex sentence A single independent clause and a dependent clause.
Compound-complex sentence Combines two or more independent clauses with at least one dependent clause.
